Forest

Driving on a freeway
I notice a heavy load of
skinned
naked
tree trunks
lying motionless on a long truck bed looking
forlorn
lonely
raw
dead
I could only imagine where they came from…
a rich
dark
thick
fragrant
lush
green
forest
of loving trees hundred’s of years old
digging their roots into the soil
waving their branches full of leaves in the wind
birds nestled into the trees
sky and sun and moon hugging them all in a cozy embrace
